About D.L.Swanson

Hello. my name is David Swanson, and I was Honorably Discharged after 4 years in the US Navy. I was enlisted from August 1989 to July 1992 and served in the Desert Storm-Shield theaters aboard a Naval Aircraft Carrier. Im also a Disabled Veteran & I have been receiving treatment since 2005 and have been diagnosed with reflex sympathetic nerve pain dystrophy.

I am confined to a wheel chair and cannot walk because of very sever pain in my feet & Legs. I am on many medications such as Morphine, Transdermal Patches(Morphine Patches) and 4 different types of anti depressants and other medications for high blood pressure and A condition of the the heart called Afib. I take about 25-30 prescription medications a day & I am pretty much confined to a couch or bed all day, and have to use a walker to get to the bathroom. Im almost 100% dependant on my family and my wife Kathy. I am currently asking my Congressman for help, Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) is currently trying to assist me in my plight for 100% Service Connection.

As you can see, my wife does not have time or the ability to hold a job and take care of me and our 4 children , so we have been on food stamps and Medicaid for a few years now. We receive a cash gift from our local VA once a month and our friends try to help as well, but, some months, we struggle to make rent and utilities and make our car payment.

If you can help us, please send your donations to my PayPal account:

If you cant send a donation, please feel free to just send me an e-mail, I can always use support and advice. Thank you for your time & God Bless!

About emcquarry

I have a family of 4, myself, my husband and our 2 boys (13 & 7).  My husband was in the military for almost 14yrs.  We made it through two 6mo cruises and one 7and 1/2 month cruise.  During the last one, from Sept 2008-April 2009, my husband began to suffer from severe depression.  He was treated on the ship by a doctor, but not given any medication.  when the ship returned home, he was unable to get any treatment at all.  He repeatedly asked for help and was still unable to get anything.  In desperation, and not in a rational state of mind, he did an illegal drug and then asked to be drug tested so that he could get help when he failed his test, not thinking about the long term consequences of his actions.  He did fail his test and subsequently was told he was going to be processed out of the Navy.  He still did not receive help for his depression.  He suffered a major breakdown and I had to take him to the emergency room and have him admitted to the psych ward at the naval hospital because he was suicidal.  He stayed in the hospital for a month, he did get medication and therapy while there, but because he told them that he had a drink occasionally they said his depression was brought on by alcoholism and then refered him to a mandatory 30 day detox program.  Meanwhile, the Navy continued processing him out and they punished him further by taking away some of his rank and 2 months of pay, also they restricted him to the ship for 45 days.  My children and I did what we could to maintain, of course they did not understand what was happening.  After my husband got off of restriction, he was put out of the navy with an "other than honorable discharge" in Aug 2009, which means he cannot get a well paying job.  We lost our home and had to move into my parents house.  After a few weeks, we were unable to stay with them any longer.  He was able to get a job working at Farm Fresh and we are both in school.  We were able to survive for a few months off of our tax return and the refund from our financial aid, and we were expecting to be able to recieve the 9-11 GI Bill, but the Navy lumped his whole 14yrs in the Navy under the same discharge status and he was denied the GI Bill.  If you know anything about the military, you know that that is impossible.  Every time you reenlist you have to be discharged with an Honorable discharge.  My husband has 2 of them in his record.  We have obtained copies of those and have sent them to the VA with a request to appeal the GI BIll denial.  Hopefully they will approve and with that we would receive an additional $1500.00/mo for housing expenses while he is in school.  However, at this point, we cannot pay rent, power or phone bills. (any bills for that matter)  I have already applied to social services and they give us food stamps, medicaid for my kids and they did give us $300.00 in power assistance, which has been used up already.  My husband is only making about $300.00/week which gets used up on gas, toilet paper and other essentials.  I am able to save very little towards rent.  I am desperate, I have researched every opportunity available, we have sold our blood, taken loans on our only car and still there is not enough to pay our $1200.00/mo rent.  Please help us in any way you can.  My children have already had to lose their home, their pets and leave their friends.  We cannot lose our home again, this time, we will have no where to go.

If there is anyone out there who can help us, I would be eternally greatful!  It has not been an easy road and I do not take this request lightly, I have had to swallow my pride but I would not ask if there was any other way.

About poshbaker

I am getting ready to start a bakery!  Scary I know!  What makes it a little scarier is that there is a little pressure to get this up and moving.  My husband is in the Navy and we just found out that he has knee injury that could get him released at any time.  We have started the deposit process.  And are basically taking the bootstrap approach.

The bakery is in a great area, and will be wonderful for the neighborhood.  Hopefully it will encourage other quality businesses to help revitalize as well as provide much needed jobs.  Talk about stimulating the economy!

Unfortunately we need help getting off the ground. A project like this comes with painting, and hiring employees, as well as finding childcare for our 3 little ones.  So please help, any amount is welcome, if you can give only $1 thats great, if you can give more, thats great too!

My paypal address is shayna@poshcelebrations.com

Also welcome are gift cards to places like Home Depot, Office Max, or even Target.  If this is an option you would like to do, please email the address above and I will send you our physical address.

Thank you!

Cynn

About Cynn

Hello to all!  I'm a single mother of two, a 15 year old girl and a 5 month old  boy.  I'm currently living with my aunt in Georgia but things are kind of hectic in this house.  I sent my daughter to live with her dad a year ago because I was getting evicted out of my old apartment.  At the time I wasn't sure that I was pregnant and moved to Florida to stay with my ex until I got back on my feet but that didn't work out so I went back to New York to stay with my best friend until I came back to Georgia.  My son's father is a retired Navy petty officer that is no where to be found.  The last I spoke with him was a week before I went into labor.  My daughter is being neglected by her dad in Baltimore.

I used to be active duty in the Navy and now I'm a reservist but 238 doesn't cover barely anything.  I can't look for work because I don't own a vehicle to get me to an interview.  I have to rely on my little cousin to take me to the doctors and to drill one weekend a month.  Out of the 238 a month comes out my life insurance which is about 32 month and then my retirement which is 23 a month and then comes the taxes.  If I don't drill for the month my life insurance is backed up till I do and sometimes that's about 90 dollars out of one check.  Some might say cancel the insurance but God forbid anything happens to me I need to make sure my children won't suffer financially.

My aunt really doesn't want me living here and I don't want to be anywhere where I'm not wanted.  I cook, clean and watch her 2 year old daughter daily but it's never good enough and when I do have a little extra cash I have to help her out with her own bills and she's a R.N..  I was enrolled with Devry online to finish my bachelors but once I was evicted from my last apartment I haven't been back since.  Can't really look for work with no car, no public transportation and no baby sitter.

I'm 32 years old and scared for me and my children's future.  I was looking for a shelter but they're all dirty and I don't want to put my son through that.

I need help and I don't know where else to look.  I don't want to give up hope but the feeling is there.

If anyone can help me out in this trying time please do.  I need a home for my children; I need a means to get me back on my feet.  If I have to relocate I have no problem with that.  Anywhere where I can start fresh is welcoming.
